This is the top of the line zoysia grass. El Toro was developed at the University of California-Riverside. It has been rated #1 in the National Turfgrass Evaluation Program for overall turf quality and drought tolerance. El Toro can withstand drought better than any other zoysia grass we have seen. It also has a unique upright growth habit that allows it to be mowed with a rotary-type mower making it easier to maintain than traditional zoysia grasses. It has a beautiful dark green color, performs well in the sun or shade, and maintains its green color well into the fall. While we stop short of calling it "The Perfect Turfgrass," it is definitely the closest thing yet.
